# WorkoutTimer vs StepSwitch

The clearest difference is ads: WorkoutTimer at none against StepSwitch's shown. StepSwitch's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WorkoutTimer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and StepSwitch sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WorkoutTimer ships an update fortnightly, StepSwitch every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
