# FlatNote vs Folio

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: FlatNote at none against Folio's 1. FlatNote also leads on iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.2). Folio's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 2 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Folio sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. FlatNote asks for nothing beyond the download.

FlatNote ships an update every 2 months, Folio daily. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
