# Sequence vs Reader

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Reader at none against Sequence's 4. Sequence's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 5 days). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sequence sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

Sequence ships an update every 3 days, Reader every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 18, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
