Photograph a stamp to explore its design, country and denomination. PhilLens brings likely issue details, visible condition and a value estimate together, helping you turn a loose stamp into a collection entry. Explore the issue Take a clear photo or choose one from your library. Review the likely issue from the stamp’s visible design, country and denomination, and correct the match when needed. Discover the telling details Use issue information and guides to learn about perforations, watermarks and variety clues. Compare those details with the stamp you are studying. Read condition and value Compare the visible condition with an estimate and the explanation behind it. See how condition relates to value with prices by condition. Confirm mint or used On new scans, for unlocked results, confirm whether a stamp is mint or used and change its condition to request a new estimate. Keep the confirmed status with your saved collection entry. Build your collection Save an unlocked result, add notes and organize items in folders. Revisit your saved details and identification history as you explore. Learn with 12 guides Read 12 topic guides in step-by-step pages, alongside other in-app articles. No subscription is needed to read the guides. Ask your next question Open the assistant from the result page to ask follow-up questions and keep learning. Usage limits are shown in the app. Understand estimates Matches and details can be mistaken or incomplete. Values are estimates, not verified sale prices, authentication, offers or financial advice. Actual prices depend on condition, demand and where you sell; condition-specific prices appear only when supplied, and in other cases changing a condition may not produce a new estimate. Collection totals summarize saved estimates, not live market changes. Photos do not reliably reveal hidden watermarks or measure a perforation gauge. Gum, hinging and other details may need a separate close inspection; valuable stamps may need expert examination. Understand your privacy We use PostHog for limited product analytics and AppsFlyer to measure installations and ads for our apps. Eligible event data may be shared with Meta for advertising measurement and optimization under applicable privacy controls. Photos go to our recognition service and Google's AI models to identify them. They are not used for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for details. Explore access and purchases Explore with an initial allowance of complete photo-identification results. Once it is used, parts of new results are locked and a paid upgrade is offered. Availability and limits are shown in the app. Paid access applies to this app. Check the purchase screen for available options, prices, trial eligibility and usage limits. Stamp Identifier

Stamp Identifier reads one photo of a postage stamp and returns the issuing country, year, series, condition and an estimated value range for the condition shown. WHAT ONE PHOTO GIVES YOU • An estimated value range for this stamp in the condition shown • The issuing country or postal authority • The year or year range of issue • The printed denomination and the series or commemorative name • Perforated or imperforate, with the gauge when it is genuinely readable • Watermark and paper notes when the photograph shows them • The printed ink colour, including bicolour issues • Condition, mint or used, with centering and any visible faults • A rarity descriptor, from very common to major classic rarity • The diagnostic markers a collector checks to confirm the attribution • Quick facts, interesting facts and a calibrated confidence score THE VALUE RANGE LEADS THE RESULT Whether an inherited album holds anything worth keeping is usually why it got opened, so the estimate sits at the top of every result. It is always a band, never a single figure: a low-to-high range, a "less than one dollar" note for common definitives, or "Varies widely" when condition and shade decide it. It is an AI reading of a photograph. It is not a professional philatelic appraisal, and gum, centering, perforation and faults can only be settled by in-hand grading. INHERITED ALBUMS, SHOEBOXES AND KILOWARE Classic issues that never printed their country name, definitives by the sheet, commemoratives, overprints and surcharges, mint and used, any era and any country. Work through a page at a time. A photograph that is not of a stamp comes back with low confidence and says so, rather than with an invented name. WHAT THE STAMP ACTUALLY SHOWS Who issued it, what the portrait or vignette depicts, and why the issue is remembered. Corner letters, watermark orientation, overprint spacing and reperforated edges are listed as markers to look at, so you know what separates an issue from its reprints and look-alikes. Handling notes come with the result, including why a stamp should never be taped. ASK ABOUT THE STAMP YOU JUST IDENTIFIED Premium adds Ask AI, a conversation scoped to postage stamps and philately. Perforation and watermark technique, paper and colour shades, condition grading, how a value range moves with condition, errors, overprints and surcharges, regumming, storage and postal history. It stays on stamps and does not wander off topic. YOUR SCANS, KEPT Every identification is saved on your device with its photograph, so a shoebox emptied on a Sunday becomes something you can read back later. No account. WHO IT IS FOR • Anyone who has inherited an album and no idea what is in it • Returning collectors revisiting the album they filled as a child • Philatelists triaging a bulk lot or an unfamiliar script • Flea market, estate sale and car boot buyers deciding on the spot • Family historians reading the stamp on an old letter HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHOTO CAN DO An identification here is a best-effort AI suggestion, not an authoritative determination. A value estimate from a photograph is not an appraisal and not an offer to buy. Grading a stamp requires inspection in hand. A photograph cannot measure a perforation gauge reliably and cannot reveal a watermark that glare, a hinge or a mount is hiding, so the app writes "Not visible in photo" instead of guessing, and returns a range with a confidence score. Identification needs an internet connection. Scans you have already saved stay on your device and can be reopened at any time. The app interface and the results are available in 33 languages. PREMIUM Free includes 2 identifications per day. Premium lifts the daily limit and unlocks Ask AI. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and you can manage or cancel yours in your App Store account settings at any time. Verdict
The clearest difference is device support: Stamp Identifier at 3 against PhilLens's 1. Stamp Identifier also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PhilLens sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Stamp Identifier sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
