# Caption Hero vs Subtext

The clearest difference is ads: Subtext at none against Caption Hero's shown. Caption Hero's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Caption Hero sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month and Subtext sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Caption Hero ships an update every 5 days, Subtext monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
