# SQL Hero vs SQLPrep

The clearest difference is ads: SQLPrep at none against SQL Hero's shown. SQL Hero's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SQL Hero sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and SQLPrep sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 25, 2026 respectively.
