# SketchCalc vs MathWrite Notes

The clearest difference is ads: MathWrite Notes at none against SketchCalc's shown. SketchCalc's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SketchCalc sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and MathWrite Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SketchCalc ships an update every 2 weeks, MathWrite Notes monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
