# Kodent vs Handpiece

The clearest difference is rating: Kodent at 5.0 against Handpiece's 4.2. Kodent also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). Handpiece's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and update cadence (daily vs every 5 days). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Handpiece sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Kodent asks for nothing beyond the download.

Kodent holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Handpiece has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Kodent's written reviews are positive against 100% of Handpiece's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Kodent ships an update every 5 days, Handpiece daily. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
