# OpenVox Reader vs Human Voice Over

The clearest difference is monetization model: OpenVox Reader at free against Human Voice Over's freemium. OpenVox Reader also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). Human Voice Over's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenVox Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Human Voice Over sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Human Voice Over holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OpenVox Reader has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OpenVox Reader ships an update weekly, Human Voice Over monthly. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
