# HeyReader vs Better Bookshelf

The clearest difference is review sentiment: HeyReader at 100% against Better Bookshelf's 50%. HeyReader also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.2). Better Bookshelf's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HeyReader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Better Bookshelf sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HeyReader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 6 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of HeyReader's written reviews are positive against 50% of Better Bookshelf's.
