# Advanced Verbal Lab vs Mandarin Hero

The clearest difference is update cadence: Mandarin Hero at every 3 days against Advanced Verbal Lab's fortnightly. Advanced Verbal Lab's advantage is device support (3 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Advanced Verbal Lab sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Mandarin Hero sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Advanced Verbal Lab ships an update fortnightly, Mandarin Hero every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
