# Tide vs rootlet

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: rootlet at none against Tide's 2. Tide's advantage is ratings volume (216 vs 1) and update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tide sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year. rootlet asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Tide against 5.0 for rootlet. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tide has 216 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Tide ships an update weekly, rootlet every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
