JLPT kanji readings and spellings, without going one square wrong. The reading questions of the JLPT hide the right answer among readings one square away: a long vowel, a small っ, a voicing mark. γ“γ†γ˜γ‚‡γ† or γ“γ˜γ‚‡γ†, γŒγ£γ“γ† or γŒγ“γ†. The spelling questions hide it among kanji that sound the same: is γ›γ‚“γŸγ ζ΄—ζΏ― or 選択? Hankan sees through both with the Korean reading of each kanji. ν•™ (ε¦) ends in γ„±, so ε¦ ends in く, and before か it shrinks to a small っ. And ζ΄—ζΏ― is 세탁 in Korean, 選択 is 선택: the same sound in Japanese, but said in Korean only one of them is the word. 4,311 READING QUESTIONS A sentence with the word underlined and four readings. The wrong ones twist one trap each, as the exam does (long vowel, small っ, voicing mark, small ゃゅょ), and no reading a dictionary lists for the word is ever offered as wrong. A dropped square shows as a dashed red square. 3,354 SPELLING QUESTIONS Pick the kanji for a word given in hiragana. The wrong spellings are kanji that sound the same; after an answer each one shows its Korean reading and whether it is another word or no word at all. A RULE UNDER EVERY TRAP Each kanji sits over its squares with its Korean reading beneath, the deciding final consonant in red, and the rule with its measured rate right below. Where no rule decides a square, the app says so plainly. SIXTEEN MEASURED RULES Every place a rule applies in the JLPT kanji words was counted, and only rules that held at least 90% of the time were kept. γ…‡ final β†’ long vowel: 98.9% γ„΄ or ㅁ final β†’ γ‚“: 99.9% γ„± final β†’ く or き: 97.9% γ„± final + か row β†’ っ: 94.4% Ending in γ…› β†’ long vowel: 99.4% Every rule opens ten questions on itself. LOOK UP BY ν•œμžμŒ Type ν•™ to find ε¦. 1,669 JLPT kanji by their Korean reading, each with its Japanese readings, the rule that fits it (and whether it holds there), and the JLPT words it is in. DRILL THE TRAP THAT GETS YOU The trap map shows which trap keeps catching you (long vowel, small っ, voicing, small ゃゅょ, γ‚“, another reading); tap one for ten questions on only that trap. TAP THE SQUARES Hear a word without seeing it and tap once for every beat. The squares your ear dropped are pointed out. ROUNDS Ten questions to a chapter, a round to a page of manuscript paper. The next round goes over every word or only the missed ones. WHAT'S INSIDE β€’ 4,311 reading and 3,354 spelling questions on JLPT kanji words, N5 to N1 β€’ Japanese audio made in advance with an AI voice model and checked word by word (a few words use the device voice) β€’ Works offline; progress restores from your own iCloud β€’ No account, no ads, no tracking β€’ Interface in Korean and English; meanings in Korean FREE AND THE PASS The first 50 words of every level, all the rules and the kanji look-up are free. The pass opens every word: monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and are charged to your Apple Account. Manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings.
