# BookWrite vs Igneous

The clearest difference is rating: BookWrite at 5.0 against Igneous's 4.0. BookWrite also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3). Igneous's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Igneous sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. BookWrite asks for nothing beyond the download.

BookWrite holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Igneous has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BookWrite ships an update fortnightly, Igneous every 2 days. Both last shipped on November 6, 2026.
