# Fretwise vs Guitar Codex

The clearest difference is update cadence: Fretwise at every 4 days against Guitar Codex's weekly. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fretwise sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Guitar Codex sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fretwise ships an update every 4 days, Guitar Codex weekly. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
