Most migraine trackers assume you can fill in a form mid-migraine. MigraineSpy assumes you are having a migraine right now and cannot. It's designed to be simple so you can focus on recovery. Open it and there is one button: Migraine started. Tap it and you are done. Tap End migraine when it passes. Intensity, symptoms, notes and medications are all optional, and you can add them later, or never — the entry is already saved. ONE TAP, NOTHING REQUIRED The only thing MigraineSpy ever needs is a start time. Nothing is mandatory, nothing blocks you, and there is no form to complete before your migraine counts. Elapsed time is worked out from when you started, so an entry survives a force quit, a restart, or a flat battery. SYMPTOMS THAT NEVER BECOME A MIGRAINE Aura on its own. A wave of nausea. A visual disturbance that passes. These get their own kind of entry, so they stay part of your history without being counted as a migraine day and quietly inflating every number you watch. A REAL CALENDAR 1 Month, 30 days, 12 weeks, 20 weeks, 6 months or 12 months, each with a count for that period. Tap any day to see what happened. Intensity runs gold through orange to red, so a bad stretch is visible at a glance. STREAKS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS Days clear, and days in a row. Both matter, and both are there. MEDICATIONS, HONESTLY RECORDED What you took, what you took it for, and whether you noted that it helped, did nothing, or you are not sure. No claims, no scoring — just what you observed. COLOUR THAT GETS OUT OF THE WAY The app can look bright at rest and mute itself the moment a migraine starts. Or stay bright. Or stay calm. There is a dark theme, a light theme, an ultra dim mode for during an attack, and a screen dimmer you can switch on mid-migraine. Lock to portrait is on by default, because a screen that turns when you roll over is the last thing you need. YOUR JOURNAL STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing is sent to a server. Backup and restore are free and always will be — save a file wherever you like, and use it to move everything to a new phone. ONE OPTIONAL PURCHASE PDF export is a one-time purchase: a readable summary of any date range, to keep, print, or take to an appointment. Everything else, including backups, stays free. There is no subscription. MigraineSpy is a personal journal. It does not give medical advice and cannot diagnose or treat anything. If you are worried about your health, talk to a doctor.
GutNote

You ate something perfectly normal and three hours later your waistband feels two sizes smaller. Was it the onion? The oat milk? The stress? Guessing is exhausting. GutNote keeps the receipts instead. Every pattern it shows comes from your own entries — never from a hunch, never from a generic table. LOG IT IN SECONDS • Meals as free text, by voice, or with a photo • Bloating on its own 0-5 distension scale • Symptoms at intensity 1-10: cramps, nausea, heartburn, gas, diarrhea, constipation, pain • Stool on the Bristol scale 1-7, one tap • Stress 1-5, medication and supplements with dose • Fiber and water for the day • Exact times you can edit, so a late dinner stays a late dinner CHECK A DISH BEFORE YOU EAT IT Snap the plate and name the dish. GutNote scores it against your own history and the FODMAP reference — high risk, low risk, or not enough data yet — and tells you how many hours you usually wait for a reaction. PATTERNS, STATED HONESTLY Pick a delay window from 1 to 72 hours, because a reaction rarely arrives at the table. GutNote reports shares, not vibes: symptoms followed in 7 of 9 meals, with a histogram of the hours in between. YOUR BLOAT CLOCK Your own distension scale, a counter of days without bloating, a traffic-light calendar of the month, and the hour bloating usually turns up for you. FODMAP REFERENCE AND BARCODE SCANNER Type a food, get an answer before you finish the word. Browse by group — fructans, lactose, fructose, polyols, GOS. Scan a packet and GutNote reads the ingredient list, so garlic or onion powder never slips in unnoticed. LOW-FODMAP KITCHEN A real Monday-to-Sunday meal plan you fill yourself, a searchable recipe library, and a shopping list built from the week you planned. THE THREE-PHASE PROTOCOL Elimination, then one group back at a time, then your own results — tolerated, triggered or inconclusive, in your words. RESTAURANT CARD A card you hand the waiter, built entirely from foods you already marked, in any of eleven languages you pick. ASK GUTNOTE Log by voice, get a weekly review that narrates your own numbers, and ask a gut-health chat about foods, FODMAPs and symptoms. BELLY BREATHING A short guided session for the moments a flare is winding up. On your phone and on your wrist. APPLE WATCH AND IPAD Log a meal, rate bloating with the crown, log a dose or breathe — without reaching for your phone. On iPad the same data opens in a two-pane layout. FOR YOUR DOCTOR Export 7, 30, 90 days or a custom range as a clean PDF with charts and a day-by-day timeline, plus raw CSV. Send the PDF straight to your dietitian from the share sheet. APPLE HEALTH Connect it to read sleep, mindful minutes and cycle data next to your symptoms. GutNote never writes to Health. Optional, and off until you turn it on. IT STAYS ON YOUR PHONE No account, no sign-up. Your diary lives on the device, with a JSON backup when you want your own copy. Only the AI features send data: your chat messages, voice recordings for transcription, a few weekly summary numbers and the dish photo you check. Barcode lookups go to Open Food Facts. Home screen widget, light and dark, eleven languages. GutNote is a self-tracking and education tool. It does not diagnose, treat or prescribe a diet — that conversation belongs with a clinician, and now you walk in with data. SUBSCRIPTION GutNote is a subscription app with Monthly and Yearly plans. The standard Yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or when the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID account settings. Verdict
MigraineSpy and GutNote are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
