# Awesomap vs Ascend Maps

The clearest difference is monetization model: Ascend Maps at free against Awesomap's paid. Ascend Maps also leads on update cadence (every 6 months vs every 63 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Awesomap's advantage is ratings volume (374 vs 1) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 12.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
