Tatak

Tatak is a retro runner from 2011: a cave escape through a tunnel that crushes you from above. Tatak: The Great Escape, Jarbull's Java classic, is rebuilt pixel for pixel as an offline cave runner with simple touch controls โ free, no wifi needed, playable anywhere. Tatak was made in a laboratory. His creator broke his vase, and Tatak is not staying to see what the professor breaks next. The lab escape is the easy part. Above ground the professor is stamping, and down in the cave that means the ceiling shudders, comes down, and the tunnel closes on top of you. READ THE SLAM This is not a runner where you only jump. The tunnel presses you down and then kills you on the floor. Every slam plays out one of three ways: it comes straight down; it stops in mid-air, hangs, then finishes the job; or it stops and pulls back up. Watch for the shudder, learn the difference, find a pocket in the rock deep enough to stand in, and let the ceiling shut around you. It is a hard game in the old arcade way: one more try, every time. RUN THE WINDING CAVE 22 hand-authored tunnel sections, streamed at random, so no two escapes are the same โ a tunnel runner and an endless runner the way 2011 imagined it. The floor rises in steps you cannot walk up, so you jump them, like the old school pixel platformer it is. Pits open under your feet, the gap between floor and ceiling winds up and down, and the pace climbs the further you get. GRAB THE TREASURE Four kinds of treasure hang in the tunnel, worth 100 up to 500 points each, and a skull that costs you a piece of your vase. Five pieces is all you get. A collapse buries everything on screen, so take the risk before the ceiling does. Distance pays while you run, treasure pays in bursts, and your best run goes on the global leaderboard. SHORT RUNS, ONE MORE TRY If you like a game that asks for timing and not just fast thumbs, a tunnel that changes shape under you, and a run short enough for one train stop, this is that game: quick runs, a high score to beat, and no wifi between you and the next try. OFFLINE GAME, NO WIFI NEEDED Play offline anywhere โ on the bus, on a plane, underground. No internet, no account needed, no waiting. Simple controls: jump, and nudge left or right. Plays in portrait or landscape, and it runs on older phones too. A retro arcade game that fits in a pocket of your day, and a hard one to put down. FAIR AND FREE Free to play, with one small banner ad you can remove forever with a single purchase. No video ads, no pop-up ads, no energy meters, no timers, no loot boxes. ONE OF THE OLD JAVA GAMES, BACK This is Jarbull's 2011 Java (J2ME) game from the feature phone days, rebuilt from its own data โ the same 163-tile pixel art, the same hand-drawn 8-panel comic intro, the same tune, the same 22 patterns, the same physics down to how the ceiling shoves a jumping creature back to the floor. If you played it on a keypad phone, it plays the way you remember. FEATURES - Retro pixel runner and cave escape, rebuilt from Jarbull's 2011 original - Play offline โ no wifi, no internet, no account needed - 22 hand-authored tunnel sections, shuffled every run - Three different ceiling slams to read and survive - Five treasure types, one of which you should not touch - Nine achievements and a global high-score leaderboard - Simple touch controls: jump, and nudge left or right - The original 2011 soundtrack, re-rendered from the game's own MIDI If you miss the old Java games you played on a keypad phone, Tatak: The Great Escape is that feeling, without the emulator. The professor is coming. Run. Tatak: The Great Escape was first released by Jarbull in 2011. Java is a trademark of Oracle and/or its affiliates.
