# ShiftLedger vs Desktop

The clearest difference is monetization model: ShiftLedger at free against Desktop's free with in-app purchases. ShiftLedger also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ShiftLedger sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Desktop sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for ShiftLedger against 5.0 for Desktop. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 2 respectively.

ShiftLedger ships an update every 2 days, Desktop weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
