# PDF Converter vs PDF Maker

The clearest difference is monetization model: PDF Maker at free with in-app purchases against PDF Converter's subscription. PDF Maker also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). PDF Converter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Converter sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and PDF Maker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Maker holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Converter has 6K ratings behind it against 85, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of PDF Converter's written reviews are positive against 61% of PDF Maker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Converter ships an update fortnightly, PDF Maker every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
