# PDF Converter vs Scanner App

The clearest difference is monetization model: Scanner App at free with in-app purchases against PDF Converter's subscription. Scanner App also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and review sentiment (76% vs 67%). PDF Converter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (6K vs 191). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Converter sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Scanner App sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner App holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Converter has 6K ratings behind it against 191, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of PDF Converter's written reviews are positive against 76% of Scanner App's.

PDF Converter ships an update fortnightly, Scanner App every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
