# PDF Converter vs Scanner App

The clearest difference is monetization model: Scanner App at free with in-app purchases against PDF Converter's subscription. Scanner App also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.4) and chart position (#4 vs unranked). PDF Converter's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 50%) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Converter sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Scanner App sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner App holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner App has 38K ratings behind it against 6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of PDF Converter's written reviews are positive against 50% of Scanner App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Converter ships an update fortnightly, Scanner App every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
