# PDF Converter vs Document Scanner & PDF Editor

The clearest difference is monetization model: Document Scanner & PDF Editor at freemium against PDF Converter's subscription. Document Scanner & PDF Editor also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). PDF Converter's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (6K vs 7). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Converter sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Document Scanner & PDF Editor sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for PDF Converter against 4.3 for Document Scanner & PDF Editor. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Converter has 6K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 67% of PDF Converter's written reviews are positive against 100% of Document Scanner & PDF Editor's.

PDF Converter ships an update fortnightly, Document Scanner & PDF Editor every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
