# Clear Scan vs Scan Hero

The clearest difference is update cadence: Scan Hero at every 10 days against Clear Scan's every 3 months. Scan Hero also leads on ratings volume (242K vs 18K) and chart position (#34 vs unranked). Clear Scan's advantage is review sentiment (94% vs 66%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Clear Scan sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Scan Hero sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Clear Scan against 4.7 for Scan Hero. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scan Hero has 242K ratings behind it against 18K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 94% of Clear Scan's written reviews are positive against 66% of Scan Hero's.

Clear Scan ships an update every 3 months, Scan Hero every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 27, 2026.
