# Design Lab vs Poster Maker

Design Lab and Poster Maker both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 75% of Design Lab's written reviews are positive against 33% of Poster Maker's. Design Lab also leads on ratings volume (6.3K vs 179). Poster Maker's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Design Lab sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Poster Maker sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Design Lab against 4.6 for Poster Maker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Design Lab has 6.3K ratings behind it against 179, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of Design Lab's written reviews are positive against 33% of Poster Maker's.

Design Lab ships an update every 2 months, Poster Maker every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
