# Cerego vs Safe NYU

The clearest difference is rating: Cerego at 4.8 against Safe NYU's 3.9. Cerego also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (2.1K vs 22). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Cerego holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cerego has 2.1K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Cerego's written reviews are positive against 71% of Safe NYU's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cerego ships an update every 8 days, Safe NYU every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
