# Step Away vs Sober Man

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Sober Man at 100% against Step Away's 67%. Sober Man also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). Step Away's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (49 vs 12). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step Away sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Sober Man sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Step Away holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 49 and 12 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Step Away's written reviews are positive against 100% of Sober Man's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
