# VPN Unlimited vs Tether Mobile

The clearest difference is rating: VPN Unlimited at 4.6 against Tether Mobile's 2.0. VPN Unlimited also leads on ratings volume (23K vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Tether Mobile's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 12) and review sentiment (100% vs 79%). On price, ads, monetization model and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Unlimited sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Tether Mobile asks for nothing beyond the download.

VPN Unlimited holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Unlimited has 23K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of VPN Unlimited's written reviews are positive against 100% of Tether Mobile's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VPN Unlimited ships an update fortnightly, Tether Mobile every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
