# NRTM vs Chess Clock by Chess.com

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Chess Clock by Chess.com at none against NRTM's 3. Chess Clock by Chess.com also leads on ratings volume (338 vs 7) and chart position (#171 vs unranked). NRTM's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 91%) and iOS requirement (12.4 vs 14.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NRTM sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Chess Clock by Chess.com asks for nothing beyond the download.

Chess Clock by Chess.com holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess Clock by Chess.com has 338 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of NRTM's written reviews are positive against 91% of Chess Clock by Chess.com's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NRTM ships an update every 6 weeks, Chess Clock by Chess.com every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
