# Calculator Smart vs The Talking Calculator

The clearest difference is rating: Calculator Smart at 4.7 against The Talking Calculator's 3.2. Calculator Smart also leads on ratings volume (498 vs 5) and device support (6 vs 3). The Talking Calculator's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 36%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Calculator Smart sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and The Talking Calculator sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Calculator Smart holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Calculator Smart has 498 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Calculator Smart's written reviews are positive against 50% of The Talking Calculator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Calculator Smart ships an update every 4 months, The Talking Calculator every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
