# Slice vs Ashokas Cafeteria

The clearest difference is monetization model: Ashokas Cafeteria at free against Slice's free with in-app purchases. Slice's advantage is ratings volume (738K vs 1) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 4 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Slice against 5.0 for Ashokas Cafeteria. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Slice has 738K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Slice ships an update every 8 days, Ashokas Cafeteria every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
