# Matterport vs PREI

The clearest difference is monetization model: PREI at free against Matterport's free with in-app purchases. PREI also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). Matterport's advantage is ratings volume (4.2K vs 1) and update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PREI holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matterport has 4.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Matterport ships an update monthly, PREI every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
