# Monkey Story Free vs Talking Monkey Chimpy

The clearest difference is rating: Talking Monkey Chimpy at 4.3 against Monkey Story Free's 3.7. Talking Monkey Chimpy also leads on ratings volume (45 vs 6). Monkey Story Free's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 81%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Monkey Story Free sells 9 one-off in-app purchases and Talking Monkey Chimpy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Talking Monkey Chimpy holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Talking Monkey Chimpy has 45 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Monkey Story Free's written reviews are positive against 81% of Talking Monkey Chimpy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Monkey Story Free ships an update every 12 months, Talking Monkey Chimpy every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
