# Steps vs Forever

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Forever at none against Steps's 1. Forever also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 68%). Steps's advantage is ratings volume (134K vs 5) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Steps sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Forever asks for nothing beyond the download.

Forever holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steps has 134K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 68% of Steps's written reviews are positive against 100% of Forever's.

Steps ships an update fortnightly, Forever every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
