# WiTV Viewer vs HDHomeRun

The clearest difference is rating: WiTV Viewer at 4.0 against HDHomeRun's 2.5. WiTV Viewer also leads on iOS requirement (8.1 vs 15.0). HDHomeRun's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 13 months) and ratings volume (465 vs 5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

WiTV Viewer holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HDHomeRun has 465 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 13% of WiTV Viewer's written reviews are positive against 27% of HDHomeRun's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WiTV Viewer ships an update every 13 months, HDHomeRun every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
