# Backpacker™ vs Shoutrageous!

The clearest difference is rating: Shoutrageous! at 4.8 against Backpacker™'s 4.5. Shoutrageous! also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). Backpacker™'s advantage is chart position (#194 vs unranked). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backpacker™ sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per 7 days and Shoutrageous! sells 11 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shoutrageous! holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5.4K and 2.9K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Backpacker™'s written reviews are positive against 68% of Shoutrageous!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backpacker™ ships an update every 6 weeks, Shoutrageous! every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
