# Backpacker™ vs Primetime

The clearest difference is ads: Primetime at none against Backpacker™'s shown. Backpacker™'s advantage is ratings volume (5.4K vs 90) and review sentiment (70% vs 50%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backpacker™ sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per 7 days and Primetime sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Backpacker™ against 4.5 for Primetime. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backpacker™ has 5.4K ratings behind it against 90, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of Backpacker™'s written reviews are positive against 50% of Primetime's.

Backpacker™ ships an update every 6 weeks, Primetime monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
