# Backpacker™ vs Trial by Trivia

Backpacker™ and Trial by Trivia both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 70% of Backpacker™'s written reviews are positive against 38% of Trial by Trivia's. Backpacker™ also leads on ratings volume (5.4K vs 321) and chart position (#103 vs unranked). Trial by Trivia's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backpacker™ sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per 7 days and Trial by Trivia sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Backpacker™ against 4.4 for Trial by Trivia. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backpacker™ has 5.4K ratings behind it against 321, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of Backpacker™'s written reviews are positive against 38% of Trial by Trivia's.

Backpacker™ ships an update every 6 weeks, Trial by Trivia every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
