# Backpacker™ vs Ace Typer

The clearest difference is rating: Ace Typer at 5.0 against Backpacker™'s 4.5. Ace Typer also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.0). Backpacker™'s advantage is ratings volume (5.4K vs 1) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 7 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backpacker™ sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per 7 days and Ace Typer sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ace Typer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backpacker™ has 5.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Backpacker™'s written reviews are positive against 50% of Ace Typer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backpacker™ ships an update every 6 weeks, Ace Typer every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
