# OBD2 Car Scanner vs RSCHIP CHIPTUNING

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: RSCHIP CHIPTUNING at none against OBD2 Car Scanner's 3. RSCHIP CHIPTUNING also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 14.0). OBD2 Car Scanner's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 25%) and ratings volume (5K vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OBD2 Car Scanner sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. RSCHIP CHIPTUNING asks for nothing beyond the download.

RSCHIP CHIPTUNING holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OBD2 Car Scanner has 5K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of OBD2 Car Scanner's written reviews are positive against 25% of RSCHIP CHIPTUNING's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OBD2 Car Scanner ships an update every 5 weeks, RSCHIP CHIPTUNING every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 15, 2026 respectively.
