# Steps vs TrueSteps

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TrueSteps at none against Steps's 10. TrueSteps also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Steps's advantage is ratings volume (19K vs 2) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Steps sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. TrueSteps asks for nothing beyond the download.

TrueSteps holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steps has 19K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Steps ships an update every 9 days, TrueSteps every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
