# ColorTask vs SHIFTAR

The clearest difference is price: SHIFTAR at Free against ColorTask's $0.99. SHIFTAR also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 17 months) and review sentiment (76% vs 50%). ColorTask's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and ads (none vs shown). On device support there is nothing between them.

SHIFTAR is free to download; ColorTask costs $0.99 up front. SHIFTAR sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. ColorTask asks for nothing beyond the download.

ColorTask holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SHIFTAR has 572 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of ColorTask's written reviews are positive against 76% of SHIFTAR's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ColorTask ships an update every 17 months, SHIFTAR monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
