# Tresorit vs Wormhole File Transfer

The clearest difference is rating: Tresorit at 4.6 against Wormhole File Transfer's 4.0. Tresorit also leads on ratings volume (511 vs 8). Wormhole File Transfer's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (100% vs 81%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Tresorit holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tresorit has 511 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of Tresorit's written reviews are positive against 100% of Wormhole File Transfer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Tresorit ships an update every 5 weeks, Wormhole File Transfer every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
