# HOCR vs GnarCheck

The clearest difference is rating: GnarCheck at 5.0 against HOCR's 4.5. HOCR's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 2 weeks) and ratings volume (17 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

GnarCheck holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HOCR has 17 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HOCR ships an update daily, GnarCheck every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
