# GW Mailbox vs AltaMail

The clearest difference is review sentiment: AltaMail at 90% against GW Mailbox's 40%. AltaMail also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and rating (4.6 vs 4.4). GW Mailbox's advantage is ratings volume (2.2K vs 373). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GW Mailbox sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month and AltaMail sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AltaMail holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GW Mailbox has 2.2K ratings behind it against 373, so its average is the more settled of the two.
