# Notepad vs PlaceRack

The clearest difference is ads: PlaceRack at none against Notepad's shown. PlaceRack also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). Notepad's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 12 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and PlaceRack sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notepad ships an update every 8 days, PlaceRack every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
