# Notepad vs Scanner

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Scanner at none against Notepad's 7. Scanner also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). Notepad's advantage is ratings volume (28K vs 3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Scanner asks for nothing beyond the download.

Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notepad has 28K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.
