# Notepad vs Vault

The clearest difference is ads: Vault at none against Notepad's shown. Vault also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). Notepad's advantage is ratings volume (29K vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Vault sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Vault holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notepad has 29K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Notepad ships an update every 8 days, Vault every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
