# Reading Eggs vs Astral Tutor

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Astral Tutor at 100% against Reading Eggs's 55%. Astral Tutor also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4). Reading Eggs's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (7.5K vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Reading Eggs sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Astral Tutor asks for nothing beyond the download.

Reading Eggs holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Reading Eggs has 7.5K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Reading Eggs's written reviews are positive against 100% of Astral Tutor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Reading Eggs ships an update every 4 weeks, Astral Tutor daily. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
