# MapItOut vs USA States

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MapItOut at 78% against USA States's 20%. MapItOut also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (10.2 vs 16.4). USA States's advantage is price (Free vs $5.99) and rating (4.4 vs 2.5). On update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

USA States is free to download; MapItOut costs $5.99 up front. USA States sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. MapItOut asks for nothing beyond the download.

USA States holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: USA States has 287 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of MapItOut's written reviews are positive against 20% of USA States's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MapItOut ships an update every 3 weeks, USA States every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on June 11, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
